It's time to warm up the waffle maker!

Fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside these fool-proof waffles are an all-time brunch favourite. Top with your favourite seasonal fruit, nuts or indulgent sauce!


  • 2 cups flour
  • 1Tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 50g butter, melted
Toppings (optional)
  • Seasonal fruit
  • Chocolate sauce
  • Nuts
  • Maple syrup

  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, salt, baking powder and sugar; set aside.
  2. Separate the yolks from the whites. In a small bowl, beat the egg whites to a stiff foam.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs yolks; add the milk and butter, beat thoroughly.
  4. Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions.
  5. Make a 'well' in the centre of the dry ingredients; pour the liquid ingredients into the 'well', mix with a wooden spoon until the flour mixture is just dampened.
  6. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter.
  7. Brush the preheated waffle iron with a small amount of melted butter. Add the recommended amount of batter for your machine. Close the iron.
  8. Cook until the waffle is golden brown and crisp. Repeat until the remaining mixture is used.
To serve
  1. Serve warm with your choice of toppings.
