Take the humble burger to new flavour heights with these cheesy beef patties. Paired with golden shoestring fries this combo is one not to be missed.


  • 500g beef mince
  • 600g frozen shoestring fries
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan
  • ¼ cup grated smoked cheddar
  • 25g baby rocket leaves
  • 2 tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1/3 cup tomato chutney
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced into rounds
  • 4 brioche rolls, split

  1. Preheat oven to 230°c (210° fan-forced). Heat a large baking tray in the oven, spread with fries in one layer and cook according to packet instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the beef mince and grated cheeses and season with salt and pepper. Mix lightly, shape into four burgers. Brush or spray the burgers lightly with oil.
  3. Preheat a large non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat; the burgers should sizzle when you add them to the pan. Cook for 6 to 7 minutes on each side or until cooked to your liking.
  4. Top the base of the rolls with rocket, tomato, beef pattie, chutney and onion. Replace roll top and serve with fries.

 Try using any combination of your favourite cheese for the beef burgers such as blue cheese, feta, gouda or swiss.
