Borbor
Aka Congee
This comfort food Cambodian rice porridge take on Chinese congee is a Cambodian's most favorite food to eat at any time of the day, most popular to eat for breakfast. It is super delicious.
Ingredients
- 2 tbs cooking oil
- 2 cups cooked leftover rice
- 4 gloves chopped garlic
- 6 large shiitake mushrooms
- 1 dried radish, chopped
- 1 tbs dried prawns/shrimp
- 1 tbs chicken boullion
- 5-6 cups water
- 2 green onions, chopped coriander
- Salt/fish sauce and pepper to taste mung bean sprouts
- White shredded cabbage
Method
- In a medium size pot add oil and fry garlic, dried radish and dried prawns on low heat.
- Add rice and infuse the garlic oil with the rice, then add water ensuring the garlic doesn't burn.
- Add chicken bouillon, ginger and simmer the rice for 20-25 minutes or to the consistency of a porridge.
- Add seasoning as required (salt or fish sauce and pepper).
- Once cooked serve with some bean sprouts, shredded cabbage, spring onions and corinader to your preference.
- Borbor is ready to be served. Enjoy!
- You can add a chinese bread stick (aka You tiao)
