1812 ham and tatie cakes

Don't let your hard work in the kitchen go to waste, make the most of those roast leftovers and whip up a batch of these Ham & Tatie Cakes.


  • 800g leftover roast potatoes, chopped
  • 150g leftover leg ham, chopped
  • 3 spring onions, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp chopped herbs thyme
  • 1 Tbsp rosemary
  • 3 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 free range egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup plain flour
  • Oil, for shallow frying
  • Rocket salad mix and lemon wedges, to serve

  1. Roughly mash potato. Add ham, onion, herbs, mustard and egg. Season to taste and stir to combine. With damp hands, shape into 12 patties. Lightly coat with flour.
  2. Heat about 2cm oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Cook patties, in batches, for 3 minutes on each side or until golden. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towel.
  3. Serve patties with salad mix and lemon wedges.
